The freelancer’s Christmas wish list

Santa Claus wish list

Dear Santa:

I’ve been nice all year. I turned in work on deadline….most of the time. I tracked down headshots when requested, did re-writes without complaining and always included source lists.

So, if you’re wondering what to get me, here’s what’s on this freelancer’s Christmas wish list:

1. A new computer and monitor, and the time to transfer all my important data from the old one to the new one.

2. A week off of anything related to work between Christmas and New Year’s, including checking email.

3. Inspiration, to keep coming up with ideas for stories and this blog that editors and readers will like.

4. More time in 2012 to work on a few pet projects.

5. That all the publications I write for switch to direct deposit.

6. That all my assignments in 2012 pay $2 or more a word (hey, a girl can dream).

7. That all my current clients renew their contracts next year.

Fellow writers and freelancers, what’s on your Christmas wish list?

I absolutely love your list. I was actually planning on making a writer’s christmas post for my blog this week! You beat me to it!

My absolute favorite wish is the one about direct deposit.

And yes, a girl can dream. $2/word can definitely happen. After all, impossible things happen everyday!

Right now, of the five publications I work with on a regular basis one pays via direct deposit and the other via PayPal. Here’s hoping I can persuade the other three to switch next year!

My list is simple. I would like the time to get my business off the ground so that I can work for payment every day

Great list Michelle! For me I want to do more work I love and less time on busy work so I can enjoy my life more.

All so true. And I’m wishing for May to enjoy another Blogathon with you. 😉

Happy Holidays and wishing you the best in 2012!
