What do you read to be inspired?
This monthly’s WordCount writer chat is Wednesday, July 31, and in it we’ll talk about the books that inspire us — books on writing, and book that motivate us to be better writers.
Join us on July 31 at 10 a.m. Pacific time/1 p.m. Eastern time. Use #wclw to join the conversation.
Books that Inspire
A #wclw chat on books is well-suited for this time of year because summertime is great for catching up on reading, both for pleasure and to help you improve your craft. My pleasure reading vascillates between fiction and nonfiction, and to improve my craft, I like to re-read favorites like William Zinsser’s On Writing Well.
During the #wclw chat, we’ll talk about both. We’ll kick off the 60-minute chat with a quick round of introductions, and then I’ll ask some pre-set questions. Anyone participating in the chat can tweet an answer to any question. Or if you’re still new to Twitter and not comfortable doing that yet, feel free to lurk (participate by reading other’s questions & answers without asking or answering any yourself).
Here are the pre-set questions:
- Q1: What are your favorite books on writing, and why?
- Q2: What fiction or non-fiction books do you read for inspiration and why?
- Q3: When do you read: bedtime? On the subway? On vacation? Anywhere, any time?
- Q4: Which do you prefer, print or e-books? If you like e-books, what e-book reader do you use, and why?
Joining a Twitter Chat
If you’ve never participated in a Twitter chat before, don’t worry. It’s easier than you think. Log onto Twitter account and then search on the hashtag to follow the tweets or add one of your own. Even better, use a Twitter add-on such as TweetChat, which shows all of the chat tweets in a separate window and automatically adds the hashtag to your tweets. Read more here: How to join a Twitter chat.
Think about the questions, get your answers ready, and I’ll see you at the #wclw chat on Wednesday, July 31, at 10 a.m. Pacific time/1 p.m. Eastern time.
