Pardon a bit of shameless self promotion, but I’m delighted to report that BlogHer is running a WordCount post on its front page today.
The post is Insider Interview Tips from Top Writers.
BlogHer is an online community for and about women and women’s issues. The company runs a separate ad network on approximately 2,500 blogs, including this one. I’ve been on BlogHer’s ad network since March 2010. But until today, BlogHer hasn’t ever seen fit to share my blog posts in such a prominent way.
I’m not a fan of something-for-nothing deals, so even though I agreed to share my content with BlogHer without asking for additional compensation, I’m definitely getting something out of the deal – page views. If people come here, read my posts and then click through on the BlogHer ads, that’s money in my pocket. Not a lot, but money just the same.
Here’s the BlogHer front page. My story is also on the front page of the site’s Careers section.

Nice to see you on BlogHer’s front page although I must say it took me a while to find you. Their front page is too busy for me! Thanks also for explaining a bit what BlogHer is about, that might be content for another blog post now that you have further insights.

Great and reassuring tips. I’m feeling silly about my recorder…I always put it front and center (out of fear it won’t pick up sound) but it makes sense to make it more discrete to help with people forgetting it’s there! Congrats on the front page post.

wow! this is great!! Enjoyed the tips on how to interview- that is one of my many weak points- I normally have a set of questions and stick EXACTLY to them- so it was nice to know I can deviate- if necessary. Also good reminder for me NOT to interrupt 🙂

Congrats on the placement – it is much deserved. I”ve had BlogHer in my radar for a while now, and I will probably share my posts there in the future. I guess my one question when posting there would be that not all of my posts aren’t especially women-centric – or is this just a general guideline? Any advice Michelle?
