9/11 – Never forget

9/11 Memorial fountain
The first time I visited New York after 9/11 was in 2008. Seven years later, the area was still recovering, and Ground Zero was a giant construction zone. I’ve been back several times since. I took photograph above of one of the two fountains at the 9/11 Memorial in April 2013.

The fountains are surrrounded on all sides by names of the office workers, airplane passengers and crew and first responders who lost their lives that day.

It’s not the same as being there, but if you haven’t ever gone, I hope it conveys the sadness and solemnity that fills the space.
