Top 10 ways to tell it’s (finally) summer in Portland

Here are the top 10 ways to tell it’s really, truly, summer in Portland:

roof debris
10. The pine needles that have been collecting on the roof and gutters since last September are finally dry enough to blow off.

Back deck with cushions
9. You can put the outdoor furniture and cushions on the back deck without worrying about them getting rained on – well, at least not rained on every day.

Vegetable garden
8. The vegetable garden’s in. Whether or not those tomatoes will be ripe by the end of September is another story.

Flowers in pots
7. Flowers are everywhere, in pots….

Hydrangeas
6. …and inside.

camping
5. Camping!

Riley June 2013
4. The dog vascillates between waiting at the front door to go sit in the sun, and waiting at the back door to come into the shade.

Thermostat with AC turned on
3. The air conditioner is seeing some action after a long winter’s rest.

Clean car
2. The car’s washed (inside and out, thank you very much). And last but not least….

#blog2013
1. …the Blogathon is over for another year!

Blogathon bloggers will be celebrating successfully posting to our respective blogs every day in June at a wrap party/Twitter chat on Monday, July 1, at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. Use #blog2013 to read tweets about the event, or leave your own comments. Please join us!
