The publisher of Shelf Unbound, an online-only book review magazine, is debuting a contest exclusively for writers who’ve self published a book.
Editors at the two-year-old publication will pick five contest winners, each of whom will be written up in the e-magazine’s December/January issue.
In addition, one grand prize winner will receive a free ad on the Shelf Unbound website for all of 2013, space the magazine’s editors say it worth approximately $6,000.
The contest is open to authors of books in any genre that have been published in any year; that may change in the future, says Shelf Unbound EIC Margaret Brown.
The deadline for submitting entries is Oct. 1. Winners will be notified by Oct. 15.
The entry fee for the Shelf Unbound Writing Competition for Best Self-Published Book is $10, which goes toward processing costs and staff time spent on judging, Brows says.
To be eligible, authors must be over 18 and live in the United States.
To submit an entry, email a PDF of your book, including the cover, to Margaret@shelfmediagroup.com, subject line “Contest Entry,” and send a check for $10 made out to Shelf Media Group to Margaret Brown, Shelf Media Group, 3322 Greenview Drive, Garland, TX 75044.
Additional information and rules can be found on the contest rules page at www.shelfmediagroup.com.
Shelf Unbound, a 2012 Maggie Award finalist for Best Digital-Only Publication, has 125,000 readers in the United States and in 42 other countries. Subscriptions to Shelf Unbound are free at www.shelfmediagroup.com.
