This week I’ve been writing about the future of the media business and how freelancers should respond. In keeping with that theme, my weekly recommended reading for writers is all about the future – of blogging, tech tools for writers and the media industry.

- Box.net sync – I started using Box.net when LinkedIn offered a free version of the online file sharing service to members some time ago. If you’ve ever tried sending an editor a digital image only to have your ISP reject it because the file’s too big, this kind of file-sharing service is for you. Create a folder on Box.net, upload whatever you want to it, then email an invitation to anyone you want to access the file. I recently upgraded to Box.net’s paid service – the cheapest is $9.99 a month – so I could send video I’d shot for a story to an editor. Box.net’s latest offering is a file sync service you can use to backup computer files.
