Some days finding inspiration for a blog post is like trying to write using an Etch A Sketch. It’s exhausting, frustrating, and oh, so G-rated.
Part of the problem is that bloggers, me included, turn to the same resources over and over again for inspiration. How many times can you read Copyblogger headlines and hope it triggers an idea for one of your own?
Not long ago I realized I had to stop following the same old routine. So should you. Change up your blogs by making them tres risqué!
Here are four blogging tips sure to give your blog posts a naughty edge.
1. Enjoy a drink…or two.
Invite someone for a drink and ask what they’d like to know about the topic you blog about. I’m not saying you need to get drunk or put your friend on the spot. I am saying you should loosen up and hear what other people think. Who knows, you might get a few blog post ideas for the cost of a couple cocktails. Worth it.
2. Let’s talk about s—
Turns out there is a whole list of activities starting with the letter “S” that clear your mind and make way for a brainstorm. Scrubbing, showering, swimming, sleeping, and you guessed it, SEX. Sometimes the best blog post ideas show up when you’ve stepped away from the computer.
What controversial topics are trending on Twitter? You may or may not care about the liars in your industry, but you can bet that a lot of other people do. Might as well give the readers what they want!
4. Say something shocking.
You’ll receive both praise and criticism for getting real in a blog post. You might lose some fans. But you’ll probably gain like-minded readers as well. Try ranting, revealing a personal flaw, or saying what you really think about another blogger’s post. Not only does a shocking post make for an interesting read, but your readers are more likely to share the post with friends, too.
What naughty blogging strategies do you practice? Do tell.
