    I hope this works out. I am skeptical, however, because too many writers tend to be so desperate to get their work out there that they’ll underprice themselves, or worse, work for nothing. Printers, electric companies, etc. won’t do that. Until all writers stand firm, it will be hard to press publishers successfully.

    Derek gave a brilliant – and inspiring – presentation at MagNet’09 last week (Canada’s national magazine conference).

    I spoke with a lot of other writers at the conference and they think Derek is definitely on the right track — that this type of initiative is much overdue.

    As for me, I’m proud to be working with Derek.

    There goes my dream of becoming a gazillionaire by becoming a brilliant (and uber-famous) feature writer. Pays better than motherhood anyway.
