Interesting observation Susan, I hadn't heard of Chicago Now - might be worth investigating.

The number of local and hyperlocal online-only news organizations popping up right now is staggering. I've started asking around to find out if anyone's compiled a listing - if someone reading this knows of one let me know, I'd like to publish it on WordCount. Otherwise I may be forced to compile one myself.

I wonder if Chicago Now is at all related to Boston Now, an experimental paper/blog hybrid that failed a year ago. I know the founders were thinking big and I think they had trademarked CITY Now for several other major markets in the hopes of expanding.
